  • Always approach the person in a frank and respectful manner. Be natural and simple.
  • Limit yourself to help where necessary. Allow the person to carry out the rest of the activities on their own.
  • Show interest and empathy. Take time to listen to what they say and speak to them slowly and clearly.
  • If that person makes a mistake, always correct them constructively and congratulate them on their achievements.
  • Don't question their perceptions, feelings or experiences. Believe that person as you would believe any people without disabilities



Visual disabilities

Use technology that allows workers to adapt computers to their needs (text format, color, simultaneous reading, etc.).

Signs and posters written in Arial or Verdana font, with the highest possible contrast, avoiding use of italics and bold.

Avoid moving furniture and work materials from their usual place. Always keep the workplace tidy.

Say hello verbally every time you enter the same space as a blind colleague.

Do not touch the guide dog of a blind companion

Their form of recognition is the voice and they are capable of identifying each person perfectly.


Intellectual disability

  • If you do not understand what workers with intellectual disabilities want to tell you, or they have difficulty speaking, ask them in an attentive and respectful way to repeat what they wanted to tell you.
  • Always keep in mind that people with intellectual disabilities have a slower dynamic, you must respect the pace of each person to do things.
  • Give verbal instructions clearly and in simple language
  • The information given by writing must always be in accessible and easy to understand language.
  • Try not to change the work schedules and routines of these colleagues if it is not strictly necessary.
  • Value their work, congratulate them when they do a good job and listen to their proposals.
